The Paul Pogba to Real Madrid transfer speculation has fuelled up yet again. This time, though it’s not just a rumour about Los Blancos making an offer for the Manchester United midfielder. This time round head-coach Zinedine Zidane has seemingly taken the matter in his own hands.

According to French news outlet Le10 Sport, Zidane has spoken to Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola for updates about the latter’s client and his further plans.

While Pogba has been under the radar for Real Madrid for the past year or so, Juventus had joined in the race recently. The Turin club want a reunion with the star midfielder who rose to fame during his time with them in Italy.

Cold Relations Between Raiola and Florentino Perez

The two important figures in European football – Zidane and Raiola – had a lengthy discussion over Pogba recently. They apparently spoke about the box-to-box midfielder being a top transfer priority at Madrid.

One of the important factors which might be delaying the deal is the cold relation between Mino Raiola and Real Madrid club president Florentino Perez. Though Raiola has been responsible for many Premier League players being transferred to Madrid in the past, he has a minor feud with Perez.

Amidst these issues, it seems Zidane might have taken the reigns of the matter in his own hands.

Modric or Kroos to Go Under the Axe at Madrid?

With Pogba being Zidane’s top priority, there is definitely going to be a problem in the midfield hierarchy at Madrid.

Casemiro is Zidane’s long-term pivot. That leaves the boss with the decision of axing Kroos or Modric in the near future. Ballon d’Or winner Modric is 34-years-old now. It might just be the right time next season to bow out of Santiago Bernabeu.

It will be interesting to see how the Pogba transfer pans out in the coming months. Also, Zidane’s man-management skills should come to the fore if the high profile player joins the Galacticos.
