Oldham Athletic Sign Defender Cameron Borthwick-Jackson On Loan From Manchester United
Oldham announced via their website they had signed the young defender. Borthwick-Jackson arrives on loan for the remainder of the season as Dino Maamria’s squad revamp continues.
The 22-year-old spent the first half of the season at Oldham’s league rivals Scunthorpe United. The full-back was recalled at the start of January. He has been training with Oldham over the last few weeks.
He has struggled to make any sort of impact at Manchester United making just ten appearances for the Red Devils.
This provides another good opportunity for the youngster to get some game time. He will also help to shore up Oldham’s leaky backline.
He is available to make his debut in Oldham’s local derby with Salford City tomorrow. A great opportunity to make himself an instant hero.
As Borthwick-Jackson Arrives, Urko Vera Departs Boundary Park
As well as confirming the arrival of Borthwick-Jackson, Oldham have announced striker Urko Vera has left the club.
Vera arrived in January 2019 but has decided to cut short his time at Boundary Park. The club and the player agreed to mutually part ways. He played an important role in Oldham securing safety last season.
In a statement on the Oldham website, the club confirmed: “Oldham Athletic can confirm that Urko Vera’s contract has been mutually terminated with immediate effect.”
“The 32-year-old striker made a total of 12 appearances, scoring twice for Latics after originally signing last January.”
“The club would like to wish Urko well for the future.”
