Italian wonder-kid Sandro Tonali has attracted the attention of many big clubs, including Manchester United, according to Michael Butler of The Guardian. Tonali has a growing reputation after impressing at Serie A club Brescia. The teenager has already played 62 times for the club, scoring six goals.

Sandro Tonali Under the Transfer Spotlight Again

An Overview of Sandro Tonali

Many people have regarded Tonali as the second coming of Andrea Pirlo. The youngster shares the same position, started his career at Brescia as Pirlo did and, not to mention, he sports a similar haircut. However, the teenager himself believes he is more like Gennaro Gattuso, due to the gritty, aggressive style of play.

A natural right-footer that has adapted to be comfortable with either foot, Sandro Tonali has the tools to become a top player. Playing as a defensive midfielder, Tonali’s vision, movement, and creativity has resulted in a call up to the senior Italy squad.

Tonali is a jack of all trades, being able to switch from a silky, creative lynch-pin into a tough, battling midfielder. Unsurprisingly, the youngster is a tactician’s dream as this versatility can prove game-changing. Additionally, this implies that Tonali is tactically mature enough to adapt to retrain to a new position.

Massimo Cellino Plays Down Interest

Many people in England will recognise the name of Massino Cellino for his antics at Leeds United. The former chairman is now president of Brescia and is hoping to tie down Tonali to a long-term contract. Cellino has been open about the interest of bigger clubs, stating:

“All the big Italian clubs are interested. Abroad there’s Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City”

Cellino is hopeful of persuading the youngster to become a hero at Brescia. There has been recent reports, notably from Rich Jones of the Mirror, of a £40 million bid from Manchester United, but Cellino seems to value the player at a much higher price. Alongside the challenge of becoming a club hero, Cellino is planning to make a big financial sacrifice to keep him at the club.

Fiorentina have already had a bid rejected and will not be attempting another bid this season. However, if Tonali keeps improving, clubs with more financial muscle will surely enter the fray.
