What Was Said

“Of course we are talking, but it is too early to say anything about it,” admitted the 19-year-old when speaking about his new deal.

“The season is still long and we will see what happens.”

Tahith Chong also spoke about his chances at Old Trafford with Voetbal Primeur. He said: “There are a few players away from Manchester United and I’m climbing up the pecking order.”

According to the Dutch midfielder, his hope at chances is coming from the top, with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer offering support. “Ole says keep working hard and your chances will come.” Chong added.

Tahith Chong – Manchester United Career So Far

The Manchester United youngster is yet to make a serious impact on the first team Old Trafford. He has not featured so far this season.

However, it was last season where Chong made his senior debut. Despite being a substitute in all three of his appearances last season, his debut came in United’s FA Cup third-round victory over Championship club Reading.

It was then in March 2019 that the 19-year-old made his debut in the Premier League. Once more, he was a substitute in their 3-2 victory over Southampton.

His Champions League debut came shortly after the Southampton victory. Chong featured in the last ten minutes of Manchester United’s historic round of 16 comeback against Paris Saint-Germain.

The Dutchman will be hoping for more appearances this season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, following rejecting the chance to move out on loan in the summer. However, if he does not receive playing time, then a loan deal may suit the United youngster.
