According to Fabrizio Romano, Alexis Sanchez has landed in Milan, finalising a loan deal. The loan will last for a season, without any further option to buy.

REPORT: Alexis Sanchez to Agree Loan Move to Inter Milan

Out of Favour Out of Time?

Since arriving at the club in 2018, the first Chilean to play for Manchester United only managed 32 league appearances. In total, he accrued a paltry five goals in all competitions. He simply hasn’t recreated the kind of form he displayed at Arsenal and Barcelona.

This loan move takes him back to a familiar league in the Serie A, after his spell with Udinese. He is a well-travelled footballer, from Chile to Spain and England as well as Italy so he shouldn’t struggle on his return. In fact, this change from English football and culture could allow the player to thrive. During the summer, he had some kind of form for his country in the Copa America but sustained an injury that stopped him from playing for United so far.

Thus, if Sanchez can get himself fit, with some all-important minutes on the pitch, he could give himself a much-needed boost to return to the Premier League. Or indeed, he may well be able to revive his career elsewhere.

Red Devils Now Lack Senior Attacking Depth

After shipping Romelu Lukaku out to the same club, United will supply Inter Milan with yet another attacker. This leaves them a bit light with only Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial as senior attacking options. There are further complications since Martial currently nurses an injury.

Ole Gunnar Solsjaer has placed some extra emphasis on the younger players. Indeed, Mason Greenwood and Tahith Chong have made 12 appearances between them. They may be able to help supplement and support the attack. The departure of big names can only aid their progress.
